Green Energy Deployments in the U.S. Expected to Slow Down

  • BloombergNEF projects that the capacity of new solar, wind, and batteries deployed will rise to 72 gigawatts (“GW”) in 2025 and peak at 85 GW in 2026. 
  • It is estimated that the capacity of new green energy will fall in to 48 GW in 2028 and not hit 2025 levels until 2033.

Wind Turbine Orders Decreased Across the Globe in Q2 2025

  • There was 4,426 MW worth of capacity in wind turbine ordered globally in Q2 2025, a decrease from the 6,941 MW ordered in Q1 2025. None of the Q2 2025 orders came from the U.S. 
  • The company with the most year-to-date orders through Q2 was Vestas, with 3,500 MW worth of energy coming from wind turbines ordered through the company. 

Wind Turbine Manufacturers Generate High Returns

  • Despite the decrease in orders for Q2 2025, Nordex has year-to-date returns of 85.36%, and Vestas has year-to-date returns of 8.64% as of 8/14/2025. 
  • These companies have outperformed the Strive U.S. Energy ETF that invests in traditional U.S. fossil fuel companies and has a year-to-date returns of 1.91%. 

Current State of Wind Turbines in the U.S.

  • The U.S. County with the most active wind turbine building projects was Kern County, CA with 3,453 projects.
